Salsa recipe contest for work groups

This gastronomical team work challenge combines creativity with culinary skill. The tone of the Salsa recipe contest will be set as teams come into the ballroom, or meeting site, to the beat of Latin music setting the stage for an enjoyable and upbeat event.

Each team will have a designated table equipped with a large bowl, mixing spoons, knives, cutting boards, plastic aprons, markers, and utensils. In the center of the room will be a spice table and vegetable “marketplace.” This is where teams will select ingredients to make their recipes unique.

Your teams can choose to make any variety of salsa they’d like including Salsa Roja, Pico de Gallo, Salsa Verde, Salsa negra, Salsa Ranchero or any type of fruit salsa. We can even add a Guacamole contest to the mix!

Within the allotted amount of time, each team must create a recipe, prepare their dish, develop a team name, design a team logo and market their creation.

All of these tasks will require organization and excellent team work, so a team captain should be designated from the start. It will be the captain’s responsibility to delegate assignments to the rest of the team. While each team member will have a specific assignment, they must all work together, if they are to win over the judge’s taste buds.

Once the preparations are completed, the culinary capers begin! Each team will perform their “Chant” and present their dish to the judges. Teams will be judged on creativity, presentation and taste. Judges can either be members of the participating company or event staff.

A head judge will be provided to aid in program flow and scoring. This fine panel of judges will then sample and score all creations based on the best tasting, the spiciest, and other criteria.

For extra pep, you can add a Margarita or Sangria Challenge to this event.

Aspects of the program may be modified depending on variables including, but not limited to, venue restrictions, program length, and group size.

Space Requirement
Works well both in a ballroom or outdoors. For the iPad® version of this program, Internet access via Wi-Fi must be provided by the client at the event location.

Our Salsa Challenge can include a Guacamole, Margarita or Sangria Challenge. We customize and theme this program for you based on a needs assessment questionnaire reflecting your groups goals and desired outcomes.

Ask us about adding a fun Check Donation puzzle activity to the end of your program. It can be for the benefit of any charity and in any amount your company wishes to donate. We can even have a representative from the charity attend your event to accept your donation on behalf of their organization.

Goals, Outcomes and Debrief Topics

Culinary Management– Understanding the big picture game-plan and the spices and resources available, will help teams to use their time wisely – creating several possible options before deciding on a final salsa to be proudly sent to the judges.

Broaden Your Support Team - Get to know each other better by sharing techniques and known recipes to create a unified and delicious result. Celebrate as a team by creating chants and a presentation that takes individual skills into account.

Competition – Competition will drive teams to employ innovative ideas to out-taste the others.

Pricing
Pricing varies depending upon the number of participants (minimum of 30) and includes facilitators, master of ceremonies, sound and music, spices, knives, spoons, bowls, cutting boards, pots, burners, team packets, award medals, and complete event coordination. Not included are perishable ingredients and linens.
